I N T E R N S H I P S

Here at BI, we enjoy sharing our journey - where we've come from, what we're doing, and where we're going!

As part of sharing our journey, we have hosted a series internships and placements for psychology students. They have the opportunity to work at our desk, contribute to our projects, and drink our tea + coffee ☕

The Experience

Our internships provide a group of psychology students with the opportunity to join our team and learn a bit about how we design and implement scientifically-informed strategies to change behaviour across populations of people.

BI interns are tasked with a series of research and design activities that encapsulate the work of Behavioural Scientists here at BI. These activities engage our interns in real work on a number of active projects.

Some examples of what our interns have done:

▸ Researching and designing behaviour change workshops for Project Cane Changer

▸ Conducting a systems analysis for Reducing Rear-end Collisions in Queensland

▸ Researching and designing workshops as part of our Training Portfolio

Skills Taught + Strengthened

We set out to provide a rich and generous experience to prepare interns for work in the professional sphere and realm of psychology and behavioural science. Our internships are known for strengthening autonomy, improving critical thinking and research skills, providing opportunities for collaboration and mentoring, as well as broadening the interns scope of understanding of the field of psychology and behavioural science.

Our hope is that our interns walk away knowing the value of the knowledge and skillset they have acquired from their degree.

"Tasks were particularly insightful because they’re not the sort of tasks which you would complete as part of a university degree, but something which is very relevant to working in the field."
Alanah, Mid-Year Undergraduate Intern

"It has been refreshing to come from a tertiary/university perspective of behaviour change into a workplace like BI and experience firsthand what the role of a behavioural scientist looks like, feels like, and consists of."
